01/08/2003 Entry: "A New Start"

I have been trying to think of what to do here, on this site, as it was initially for my business, but I haven't really been feeling too much like working on THAT so...I am probably going to be using it for my own purposes, and since my best friend started one of these making me look bad I thought I ought to do one too. I have tried actually writing in a real journal before, the problem is I never had really great handwriting, and it's declined since I have mostly typed for the last 10 years lol

Okay so...dh left yesterday to get underway--this is a longer type trip which is icky for us, but I know it could be worse...B had a scout meeting yesterday, and then I had been asked to sit in on the den leader/committee meeting in place of Rob. Uhhuh...I know how that is going to work Mr. Pack Committee Chairman (dh) will be gone all the time right, and "you know who" (me) will really be doing all of the work. LOL Okay so you know I think it might NOT work out that way, but it might so I won't be surprised if it does ya know? I'm actually fairly excited about it really--it's good for us to be involved, and I actually didn't have any idea until last night how HUGE this is for dh to have been asked to play this role. I really didn't know that it was a position of quite as much responsibility as it is either...our Pack Master said he got a double good deal with us, as I am doing the pack newsletter now too...

Yesterday was a good day though, and I realized why we won't be buying a house anytime in the near future! Because as luck would have it, the day dh leaves would signal the day the waterheater died. Luckily for me, I only had to call maintenence and they came right out and FIXED it. YEEHAW! You know we really do take for granted the level of comfort we have, like...hot water...learned that lesson at Thanksgiving, =oD and again yesterday =oO Now...today, I got tons done...never everything I meant to, but hey...that's life--and I have three children who are professional messy makers...so I am covered. I actually worked on the kids computer for a while setting up a new browser thingie for them, it's called "Noah's Web" and it's REALLY cute! I got it from MomsandDads and it's REALLY cool. We are testing it to make sure it works better than what we have now (which is kiddonet) but so far I am truly impressed--there's this Noah character on there and it talks to them! I can program him to say all sorts of sweet things like "you are special" etc, AND chore reminders too (feed the cats!) and even cooler than that (which that is like a 10 on the coolness scale so this tops the charts!) it reads the email to them!!! As in for the girls it will actually READ the email outloud to them! It's so cool! It is also a very secure and safe environment which is what I really was looking for so all the coolness is...well...cool, but the security is much cooler.

I cooked a pork roast tonight which was a first for me. I am spoiled by my dh and don't have to cook those kinds of things normally, but I had thawed one out for dinner on Sunday and missed cooking it that night so I made it tonight and the kids really did like it. The girls took a bath tonight, I swear they are like fish, and would LIVE in there if I let them...they don't want any toys anymore in there to make it feel like a pool. lol I know they will be happy when spring hits and the pools open back up here. Of course my favorite part is blow drying their hair, so spring will be a little sad for me because they don't ever want me to do it when it's warm out. lol

My Mamaw is in the hospital...they said she had a mini-stroke...I'll tell you one thing, mini or not, I don't like it. I don't think there is much in life that makes me feel more helpless than people I love not being well. I can't get her off of my mind--and Rob's sister called today and said Brian is in the hospital having ANOTHER back surgery. Bless his heart...bless her heart...well, we are in alot of prayer for all of them, Mamaw, & Brian and everything...hope you all will be joining me in prayer too!

Let's see...the only other interesting thing that happened was that the phone company called wanting to get me to use them for long distance (my local service now offers long distance). Of course the lady was really nice and all...it's not like I was in a bad mood so I listened as she outlined the whole thing and I told her we don't have long distance because we use our cell phones. That seems simple enough...they KNOW they can't beat those rates...so she says then I have just the perfect plan for you...and I'm sorta thinking...yah, the one that isn't a plan because I don't need one. She says how about 30 minutes a month long distance to anywhere for only $2.95? Hmm...gee....let me think. Ummm...how about NO. She was shocked I think when I said why would I pay ANYTHING for something I don't need now? hehe well, she said what if your cell phone battery died? Well, that would be a problem if we didn't have an extra battery. Yah...she didn't sign me up, but she did say I was the nicest person she talked to so far today--which I mean, I'm nice...yah, but I didn't buy anything, makes me wonder how everyone else treated her ya know...at any rate--the lesson here is, I just ordered caller id on our NEW phone (long story--don't worry I'm not going to tell it--PLEASE control your sigh of relief) yesterday and I already broke the big cardinal rule which is...anyone?? Ehh?? Beuller?? Beuller?? YEAH!! Don't answer calls you don't recognize. Okay it's hard not to...cause you know you are like...ahhh...what if it's important...what if it's something I will suffer forever for not knowing what it might have been...at which point I really realized I ~might~ be taking my phone calls a little too serious...lol

Welp, I am off to bed...yes it's 3:00 am here...I know I know...I'm weird.

I pray for blessings to all of you who read this! Sweet dreams!
~A
