01/23/2003 Entry: "Can ya hear it?"

If you listen really carefully I bet you can...it would be the background music to my life (think of Seinfeld but cooler)...and the song that is currently playing is "Chariots of Fire" and I just crossed the finish line today! I fought the stinky business and I won! That's right, after many long hours, mulitple faxes, and talking to practically every employee at Dish Network EXCEPT the one I needed to talk to, today I beat them down with my cold cool demeaner--telling them I wasn't hanging up until this issue was resolved. Yup! I did! And they transfered me from one person to another for over an hour...and then...if you can believe this...I got to speak with the ever elusive KAREN--who supposedly did not take incoming calls and it was impossible for them to transfer me to her for over a week...yes...I spoke to HER! AND within five minutes of speaking to her, a few clicks of a keyboard on her end, and my account was credited with $130. Amazing. So my stinky business saga is over until someone else ticks me off which isn't hard in the kind of stinky business world we live in right now...shoot, Taco Bell ticked me off last night, we ordered 3 kids meals with no lettuce and got all three kids meals WITH lettuce, and no cheese dip for any of them...AND they didn't give us any sauce. Lucky for them I had some in my fridge or I'd have been taking my stinky business frustration I had toward Dish Network out on them. You know, I am learning to let some things go...so no, I didn't contact Taco Bell...I let it go.

You know when I was getting all the cute little smilies for my page, I was thinking about these few I got and how sweet they were and at the time thought "I don't know when I might get to use these"...the time is now. ---> <--- Yup we are a house full of sickies over here...we have sneezing, runny, stuffy noses, coughs, complaints, and all around weariness...it's the winter ick and we have it bad. YUCK!

As you might have noticed my dh had his 11th CG anniversary--and you might have caught that I forgot. I made up by making him his favorite cake (devils food) with my own homemade cream cheese frost. I think I am back as the best wife ever status now. (It was the frost I know)

Speaking of the CG the boat has been very late every day this week, but yesterday he came home around 2...got recalled around 4 and ended up coming home around 8...they had to all pitch in for some special inspection they were having...so as they were all terribly weary, dh does his work--brings out a case of snickers bar with the standard line of "not going anywhere soon?" and starts tossing them out. The crew went crazy and were so glad to have a little break in the tension. I think it was the snickers that had them home by 8 and not midnight myself! What a good man, I am so proud of my dh, he really does take good care of the crew!

Alright so I am off to go finish up some of my chores...speaking of which we will be doing a new system around here starting next week...I'll keep you updated about that!

Hope you are all very blessed!
~A
