02/19/2003 Entry: "I'm here...I really am"
Yes, yes, I know I know...you've all been going through withdrawals. haha Just kidding...but I am here now...and yes it really is 6:40 am...and YES I really am typing this...try to control your amazement...it's early and I don't think I could handle anyone getting really excited at this point.
The images are UPLOADED to Ofoto if you'd like to take a look! If you're someone who should but can't remember the information for logging on please email me and I'll send the info to you again! As you browse through these images please keep a few things in mind:
1) You are not seeing things, the lighting is not wrong, and YES B's hair is definately blue...as per that "young boy wanting to be different stage", and "express himself in new ways stage", he bought some blue hair stuff...eh...like a gel...or something...that you put in and it washes out (and yes it does! thank God!)--at any rate, the good news is that his decision had nothing to do with peer pressure or other silly influences, but just cause he wanted to cause it would be neat. (score 1 for Mom & Dad!)
2) C took several pictures with our camera...so if the picture seems a little odd...that's probably the answer! (score a handful for C for talking Mom and Dad into letting her use the camera)
3) I honestly believe there is a conspiracy among the animals...I think they wait until you start to walk by and then they turn their backsides to you. Lucky for you, I edited out most of the images labeled by dh as the "butt files" so you won't have to sift through the joke the animals played on us. (score 1 for the animals)
4) Giraffes are about the coolest animals in the world and I can barely express my delight at meeting one up close and in person. I have made a note to call the zoo later today to ask for the name of my new friend. All I can say is if I were an animal I'd want to be a giraffe! (score 1 for giraffes worldwide!)
5) Camels are also quite amazing! They are much LARGER than you imagine and they are so furry!! I wanted to get close enough to touch them but couldn't but as you can see by the images--they wanted to get close to us too! We later decided their reaction was because dh and I were wearing navy blue shirts and sweaters--the same color as the zookeepers! I think they were waiting for us to feed them lol (score 1 for navy blue--camels clearly like the color!)
6) Acacia trees. I *knew* this. Why is this significant? Because I didn't learn it from a book...a unit study...or while teaching my children (and it never occured to me that it might be something I might have learned in school lol)--nope, I learned it from ZOO TYCOON! That's right...In fact, there were quite a number of things that we all knew from our adventures with Zoo Tycoon. Neat how that happens. (score 1 for Zoo Tycoon and 1 for us for learning!)
7) Animals are so cool...my kids think animals are so cool--because they are! At some points the only way you could tell my children from the animals in the exhibits were their clothes. If they didn't have clothes there were several exhibits I think they might have blended nicely in...the chimps...the monkeys...yup...those are my kids...and dh of course, he belonged with the orangutan. I belonged only with the giraffe...and hey, I am only 5'1"...that would be a real treat for me! (score 10 for all of the animals who really did want us to join them in their exhibits)
Okay I can't think of any other really insightful things right now...hey it's early...I'll be back later I am sure...score a bunchaloada points to you for reading this--and oh...my Dad and dh too, cause they get up this early all the time. (I'm too lazy to go get the smilie for this so imagine a little smilie bugging his eyes out in shock--good job!)
Our trip was FANTASTICAMAZINGTERRIFIC!!!!! I will post more on it later! Now, I am going back to bed for a few hours before all of my little animals...errr...children wake me up...hehe The Lord blessed us with a mini-vacation that felt like it was a week long. He's awesome that way! I hope you are all very blessed as you go about your day!!
God bless! ~A
