03/27/2003 Entry: "So many thoughts...so little time..."

I have alot of stuff mulling around in my head lately, but really lack the time to get here and post it. For alot of it--it's probably better that I don't post. I get upset about alot of things going on right now. People who support the war in Iraq are labeled "warmongers" but the funny thing is that is so far from the truth. I detest war--but I'm not stupid--there are certainly times that you MUST fight if you are going to do what is right. I get confused about what our "peaceful protesters" are trying to get across--because what I see are a whole bunch of young people who really don't know WHAT they are for or against, but are more or less caught up in a moment. I get mad at some of the homeschool lists I am on where it couldn't stay on topic and instead I am reading daily messages from people I truly respect saying that they feel as if the government is purposefully misleading us...they are lying to us...etc. And you know...I just don't believe that. I really don't. We don't live in the dark ages anymore...our government can no more lie to us and get by with it in this day and age than I could fly to the moon tonight. We live in the information age and let's face it...if it can be said it WILL be said, no matter what. So...I don't believe for a minute that our government can get by with lying to us in any form. Not today. Heck, Clinton couldn't even get by with lying about his affair with Monica...and there are people in our nation who believe they can lie about things as big as this war...?? Uh...nope. At any rate, I have been filled with so many mixed emotions since the beginning of the war. Some of them are really sad and sorrowful feelings about our people AND their people. War is so ugly and brutal, and the images of our POW's is not something I have an easy time erasing from my mind when I lay down at night. I feel sorry for their people...the ones who have been told "fight or die"...in our nation, where our people are SO sheltered and pampered and because our men and women ARE willing to fight where those snot nosed little brats can stand with signs against our nation BECAUSE of the exact thing they are condemning--it is voluntary whether or not you go into military service...over there they are being told you do it, or you and your family DIE. I think there are alot of those people laying down on the streets in NYC who can't even comprehend that kind of life--they can't even fathom lack of freedom. I don't like what they are saying but praise God we live where they CAN say it...and they don't realize for some reason without the benefit of the same military forces they are spewing thier mantras against they would quickly LOSE the freedom they are taking advantage of. I hope there will be a day they will learn, but with the ultra liberal media and hollywood's influence on the younger generation it's unlikely to happen in the near future. The MTV generation huh...yah that makes alot of sense to me.

At any rate in other news--we are all well on our way to recovery from all of the sickies that went around here for the last two weeks. Thank God. I have been doing laundry that piled up while I was down for a day, my last load is in the dryer...thank God. I thought as I was out moving them into the dryer from the washer--I heard a girl scream, it was a laughing scream like someone was chasing her for fun...not alarming--but it brought to mind what it might be like to not live in a nation where I don't have to worry about soldiers coming to my door and dragging my husband out to fight...or where I can have a picture of Jesus on my wall and have Bible's laying about without fear of police coming and killing my family for this "major offense". I wondered if most people don't take for granted the fact that we don't routinely worry about our safety when doing the most mundane things like laundry. It's just such a routine thing for us...and yet in other countries I suspect every day is filled with fear and contrary to what any of the people laying down on the NYC streets says it is NOT because of the US. We have the peace and safety WE have because of the US...period. The other nations I describe...well, they lack what we have...and it is a shame. I pray for a quick and peaceful resolution to what we see in our world today--however unlikely it is at this time, but I support our country, our president, our military 110%--I trust them emphatically--why? Because we have a president that prays constantly and has surrounded himself with advisors who also seek wisdom constantly from God. We have a president who speaks openly of his faith and his God. Praise the Lord!

I'll close with a few quotes from our wonderful President:

"People across this country are praying. They are praying that they hope those families and loved ones will find comfort and grace in their sorrow. We pray that God will bless and receive each of the fallen, and we thank God that liberty found such brave defenders."--President George W. Bush

"Across America...the families of our military are praying that our men and women will return safely and soon. Millions of Americans are praying with them for the safety of their loved ones and for the protection of all the innocent lives. Our entire nation appreciates the sacrifices made by military families, and many citizens who live near military families are showing their support in practical ways, such as by helping with child care, or home repairs. All families with loved ones serving in this war can know this: Our forces will be coming home as soon as their work is done."
--George W. Bush

"I long for peace. But I also understand that if we do not lead the world against terror, that your children and our grandchildren will not grow up in a society that is as free as the society we have today. Freedom is the precious gift that one generation can pass to the next. It is a gift and a promise that I intend to keep to the American children."--George W. Bush

From March 6th: Reporter: “Mr. President, as the nation is at odds over war with many organizations...pushing for continued diplomacy…how is your faith guiding you? And what should you tell America? What should America do, collectively, as you instructed before 9/11? Should it be ‘pray’?”

Mr. Bush: “I appreciate that question a lot…My faith sustains me because I pray daily. I pray for guidance and wisdom and strength. If we were to commit our troops, I would pray for their safety, and I would pray for the safety of innocent Iraqi lives, as well. One thing that's really great about our country is there are thousands of people who pray for me that I'll never see and be able to thank. But it’s a humbling experience to think that people I will never have met have lifted me and my family up in prayer. And for that I'm grateful. It's been a comforting feeling to know that is true. I pray for peace, April. I pray for peace.”

"Liberty is not America's gift to the world, it is God's gift to each and every human being. So as we pursue peace, we also pursue liberty. We care about those who suffer under the hands of a dictator in Iraq. We care deeply about those who dissent and then are tortured, about those who express an opinion other than what the dictator thinks. The condition of the Iraqi citizen is on our mind and in our hearts. As we work to secure the peace, we'll always hold those values of freedom dear to our heart. The challenges we face will be overcome, because our nation is full of decent and honorable and strong people. May God continue to bless America."
--George W. Bush
