We are fixing to go to bed. I have been MIA lately huh? I am at my parents house right now which has been so wonderful. I can't remember when I was here before but for some reason it feels like a very long time. That's kinda pathetic that I can't remember WHEN I was here, lol, but I can't...we've been too busy and that is a sure sign of it! So here is a quick update...
1) B had his observation day at gymnastics and you could have fit a semi truck into my gaping mouth when he went up this springboard thing and proceeded to do this fancy flip head over heels thingie in the air landing on his feet in the traditional "tada look what I did" pose. He had been keeping what he was learning a secret for some time now as he wanted his Dad and I to be surprised. Well, surprised was an understatement! After my shock subsided I was just the most proud Mommy in the world!! He is very good at this stuff--I signed him and R up for the next session which begins June 10th. They are both very excited.
2) B had his end of year party for Cub Scouts and now he is offically a Webelo. He is very proud and excited about all of the new things for this next year and is already bugging me for his uniform (they get a totally new one next year!) He has his book and is already planning what he is going to do and has committed to earning the "Arrow of Light" award which is the highest award a Cub can earn AND the ONLY one they can take over to their Boy Scout uniform. =o)
3) Driving here on Friday was insane. The only thing that could have been even a bit MORE insane than that would have been if our food had taken longer at Cracker Barrel.
4) I miss my dh. He is underway on one of those "your mission should you choose to accept" kind of trips where I may never know where he is or where he's been and actually don't even know when he'll be back--which of course we were given all of 8 hours to prepare for his departure. While on the one hand there is a bit of "whoa" to that...there's also a good deal of "hmmph" there too...mixed with a natural amount of "eh" and you have me at this point where I am actually thinking about moving to Alaska. ??? I don't know...I mentioned I was tired right?
5) I have been sending these to my Mamaw (HI MAMAW!!) by mail and I know my other Mamaw and Papaw have been reading (HI MAMAW & PAPAW!!) --so I am excited to know everyone can keep up to date on what we have been doing!
6) My Mom makes the BEST potato salad in the world. Bar NONE. Seriously.
7) My Dad (Grandpa) played with the children tonight in the back yard. Among the "buckethead" head bash, kickball, and laughter there were memories made that have been captured forever on video =o) My Dad is an amazing man and he can connect with his grandbabies (B would grump if he heard me say that) in a way I can not really do justice to here. They adore him and it IS because he is willing to put a bucket on his head and do a dance with his 4 year old granddaughter who thinks he is the best thing since ice cream sandwiches!
8) I tried a few weeks ago to make potato salad. It did NOT taste like my Mom's. Nuff said.
9) We learned about Memorial Day today and I cried when I read the story about Douglas Munro to my children. We reflected on those we knew who had fought in different wars and who were currently serving and paid tribute to all of the amazing heros of all the branches of armed services. Of course the CG is near and dear to our hearts obviously--so our ending with the story about the only CG recepient of the Medal of Honor--felt just right. 10) I'm sleepy so I am off to bed.
I hope you are all so tremendously blessed. I am tonight. Thankful too...for all of my family and loved ones, for good friends, and for everything God had seen to bless me with. =o) He is good always.
